As told by Josh Spagnola
The buck was walking in toward me at 30 yards and I couldn’t move without him busting me. He turned off the trail into thick woods behind me downwind. I thought the opportunity at him was over, but about 15-20 minutes later I saw him chasing a doe about 150 yards away... I had no shot. For about 30 minutes I watched him chase doe across three fields.
He was going full tilt at every sighting. Eventually a doe launched herself into a thick breyer patch, which slowed his roll just long enough for me to drop the hammer on him at about 80 yards. He dropped in his tracks. All in all, I saw him probably six times running does. I had this deer on cam all season, but this was the first time any of us saw him in real life. When we got up to him we found an arrow wound on his belly. It looked like someone had missed with a low shot that just grazed his belly.
